If you’re one of the curlies that just always have that one spot where your curls are frizzy – not just once, but almost every time after washing your hair – this post will help you fix exactly that frizzy spot in only 5 minutes!
The technique I use to fix small frizzy spots is exactly the same I also use to revive my second day curls. I only recommend you to apply this technique to some parts of your curls and not to all of your curls as it’d then take too long. So if your curls seem too frizzy all together, just put them into a nice hairstyle and most important: don’t forget to love your curls anyway!
What you’ll need:
- some bobby pins (5 should do the trick)
- a styler, I love using DevaCurl AnGel (apparently it has a new name…) to do this
I fix frizzy spots after styling and blow-drying my curls. I prefer fixing different small sections instead of only some bigger sections as I think the curls look more natural this way:

1. Take a little bit of styler (I always use DevaCurl AnGel)

2. Take a small part of the frizzy spot you’d like to fix and cover it with styler.

3. Roll the small part around your finger until your finger reaches your scalp (watch my YouTube video on reviving second day curls to see how I roll it around my finger).

4. Fix it with a bobby pin and leave it in for about 2-3 minutes (as you can see in the picture I fixed three small sections right next to each other instead of one big section).

5. Take out your bobby pins and “stretch” your curls a bit in case they’re too curly.

6. Scrunch once or twice.

7. I always finish by shaking my curls, because I don’t want the fixed spots to look too neat.

8. Done 🙂
To see how I roll up the curls, go ahead and watch this video. You could also apply this technique to sections that don’t want to clump properly!

I just discovered your blog from your recent naturallycurly.com article and I really enjoy learning about how you care for and style your curly hair. I had to comment on this post because it totally just changed my entire curl routine and I’m kicking myself for never trying this sooner. I was skeptical that this would work on my hair for some reason, but i tried it with a few problematic sections that I wish had more definition/bounce/less frizz and I was SO PLEASED with the results. I used Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream to coat the strands and then pinned with bobby pins like you did. Not only did it get rid of frizz but it gave me awesome volume and body. I noticed if i left the pins in a little longer than 5 minutes, the curls were even more springy and since my hair is layered, it gave it an awesome dimension that I wasn’t expecting. I received 3 compliments almost immediately after trying this. Many times I rewash and style my hair the next day (with just conditioner not shampoo) because second day hair is frizzy from sleep, but now I can just fix those few sections and save myself a ton of time and energy. Great tip!!
THANK YOU!
