The 1 minute messy bun tutorial – ideal for curls

Hi curlies!

I’ve got to admit I really like the holiday season and therefore I’m totally in a Christmas mood! Especially since I’ve already bought all my Christmas presents. However, I’m sure some of you still have a lot of things to do, maybe even inviting your family over for a nice dinner. If so, I’m sure you don’t want to spend a lot of time doing your hair, so I’ve got the ideal hairstyle for your curls: the messy bun (I promise it’s soo easy and can be done within 1 minute)!

I’ve showed you another messy bun before, but if you compare them you’ll notice the one I’m wearing today is a lot more voluminous, because I just really loosely put my hair into the hair tie. I also make sure not to fix my ponytail too tight – this is something you should always consider doing when putting your curls in to a ponytail as not to destroy your natural curl pattern.

You’ll need:

  • 1 hair tie

So let’s get started!

1. Put your curls back into a ponytail, but only wrap the hair tie once around your ponytail

2. The second time you put your curls through the hair tie don’t fully put them through. Stop about half way.

3. Your curls’ll look really messy at this point

4. If you like your hair messy you don’t need to do step 4! Otherwise tuck in the wild-looking pieces into the hair tie (I don’t use any bobby pins).

5. Done!

This 1 minute messy bun isn’t only a great hairstyle if you’re rushing out the door, but you can also really style it up!

Styling up the messy bun for Christmas

This is how I consider styling up the messy bun for a Christmas dinner – a nice pair of earrings and an elegant dress from Jill Jill Stuart. If you’re still looking for a new dress, I suggest taking a look at  Shopbop! They have a great sale going on.

First of all, thank you! It’s always great to get some feedback and I’ll be glad to post a article about hairstyles for longer curly hair. At the moment I’m also trying to grow my hair, but as you surely know, this will take a while
