Getting your curls styled for any occasion can be quite a challenge, but on your wedding day you definitely shouldn’t need to worry about your hairstyle. This is the reason why I’m talking about how to get a stress-free curly hairstyle on your wedding day. Plus, I’ll show you some pictures of my wedding hairstyle.

What hairstyle should you go for?

For me, that questions wasn’t easy to answer. Even though I love wearing my curls open, I knew for certain that I didn’t want that look on my wedding day for several reasons. One of them being that I knew, that I would fuss over even the tiniest lack of root volume! So I knew it needed to be some kind of updo, but I wasn’t yet sure whether I wanted to go for an updo or for a side-updo. I therefore searched the internet and went to different hairstylists to get a better idea of what I like and then finally decided on a side-updo:

 Get some inspiration

Figuring out which hairstyle I wanted to go for took me quite a while. I strongly suggest you to search for different hairstyles online, which has really helped me to know what I liked and what I didn’t. Even though most wedding hairstyles are shown on women with straight hair, there is some great inspiration out there (you just might need to search a little longer..).

Once you’ve found some inspiration online, be sure to bring these with you for your appointment at the hairstylist to see if you like the way they look on you.

How to find a good stylist

Usually, I just really like creating all of the hairstyles myself and I rarely trust a stylist to handle my curls. However, I didn’t want to style my hair on my wedding day (I already felt stressed enough), which is why I decided it was time to find a good stylist. The only way to find out whether or not you can trust a hairstylist is by actually going there for a trial. I’m sure you’re not looking to see more than a few different hairstylists before choosing one, which is why you need to question them a bit before going there and paying for a trial hairstyle.

I asked all of them the following question: Do you also do hairstyles with curly hair that isn’t straightened? I then only went for a trial at two different hairstylists. All of the others couldn’t really answer the question or immediately started explaining that a hairstyle just looks better with straight hair.

But remember…

You need to be happy with your wedding hair, not your stylist. So don’t be too shy to ask them to do something differently if you’re not yet completely happy with the results!
