Meet Rocio and learn how she came to like her curly hair

I’m excited to share my interview with Rocio in this article, which is a part of my curly blogger series. I’m sure you already know her and her gorgeous curls. But did you know that she hasn’t always liked her curls?

I enjoy following her on Instagram and YouTube, because she is just a wonderful person with lots of positive energy and great curly hair tips. Plus she’s blogging bilingual!

Have you always liked your curls or was there a certain moment that made you embrace your natural curls?

I’ve always had curly hair but never really appreciated them or found them to be “part of Me” until I lost them to heat damage. It sort of happened overnight: straightened my hair for a special occasion (like I had done before), washed my hair and came out of the shower with straw like strands. That’s the moment I did everything possible to get them back and embrace them.

What tip, method or technique has really changed the appearance of your curls for the better?

Great tip – I can’t see even the tiniest bit of frizz!

One tip that’s changed the appearance is not touching my hair until it’s 100% dry after styling. This has helped eliminate frizz! That, and sleeping on a satin pillowcase, which helps to preserve my curls, keeping my style perfect a little longer.

Please describe your current routine

My current routine consists of a moisturizing leave in conditioner and following up with a curl defining cream. My perfect blend, my curly cocktail. After applying my favorite products, I let my hair air dry and then finally scrunch to release the cast and I’m left with soft touchable and defined curls.

What are your favorite products?

My holy grail products at the moment at Kinky Curly’s Knot Today as a leave in conditioner and SheaMoisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie for definition. I also love to use Deva Curl’s No-Poo and One Condition to wash my hair!

What do you think is most important when it comes to curls?

Beautiful curls!

I think the most important thing when it comes to curls is learning how to love and embrace them; everything else comes second. When you love your curls, everything else like washing and styling comes easier because you’re no longer fighting with your hair but accepting it for what it is, beauty!

Follow Rocio on her curly journey either on YouTube or Instagram or both!
